day 7 – letting go

Welcome to day seven of 28 days of Self-Love.

Wow! We’ve been at this for an entire week so far.

Time to check in with yourself: (you can jot this down in your notebook)

      • Are you breathing mindfully and running gratitude?
      • How’s your self-talk?
      • I know you’ve been creative! How’s that feel?
      • Anything else you notice that’s different? General thoughts?

Okay, let’s continue to cultivate the habit of Self-Love through creativity, breath, and gratitude.

letting go.

release, loose, set free., liberate, surrender, abandon, relinquish, renounce

“In the process of letting go, you will lose many things from the past, but you will find yourself.” —Deepak Chopra

  • Music Inspiration:  Meditation Music Zone – Spirit of Harmony (Nature Sounds) (There is no YouTube video for this one, so I had to include the Spotify snippet. If you do not have a Spotify account you will only be able to listen to 30 seconds of this one. Sorry. However, you can create an account for free if you’re interested. And we, 28 days of Self-Love, have a playlist there with all of the music for this course.)

  • Day 7 Exercise: Meditation

Remember the intention we set for the course on day 4? You could choose to implement that intention into this guided meditation below. Alternatively, you could choose something else to manifest as you participate in this guided meditation.

I have found many of Dauchsy’s Meditations to be wonderfully constructed. I have used the sleep ones with great success, and I am currently participating in the 30-day guided meditation challenge he has constructed. I find his voice to be very calming and his pace to be pleasant which helps me to relax and enjoy the benefits of meditation.

Additionally, there are many other meditations you could choose. Maybe, you don’t like the vibe of this one below. They have a variety of apps for your phone with meditations as well; Calm is one I’ve used in the past.

Or maybe you like to meditate on your own with an intention.

Whichever way you go, I encourage you to implement a 10-15 min. meditation into your day today. (This one below is about 13 mins after the introductory explanation.) Enjoy!

Grab that notebook. Jot down how you feel after the guided meditation.

  • Day 7 Create: Free Verse

Now you are going to write a Free Verse Poem about anything you wish. Short. Long. Up to you. Just enjoy the creativity and freedom here.

Let go and let your creativity surface naturally. As always, you can use today’s image as inspiration, or the music, or just play.

Don’t forget Shadow Poetry is a wonderful resource to familiarize yourself with different types of poetic form or refresh yourself on the different schemes.

Also, Poetry Foundation has a Glossary of Poetic Terms section you can search. A fantastic resource and site with daily poems for inspiration. and their Poem-A-Day is another wonderful site full of resources and a list of forms.

Here is my creative work as a result of today’s exercise:

letting go.

Free Verse:
each wave washes up
and the words are on my tongue
moments of memories,
lifetimes ago — when I
was a fool. a breath
ahead of time itself,
a breath too deep
the plunge and
the tall, tall fall
demise was housed
in eyes of pain
punctured tips of
fingers that painted
war upon my flesh
and daisies white,
scattered, splattered
with my blood
you called art

Love and Ink,

I invite you to share your poems in the comment section below or link to a blog or personal website. Read and comment on others. Introduce yourselves. Get involved. I’m excited to see what all you lovely souls have created.

Now let it all go and celebrate and the creativity you’ve cultivated today! What a wonderful week. See you back here tomorrow with a new week and another day of Self-Love.

    ‪From the blazing light‬
    ‪Untrammeled fantasy‬
    ‪Into the depths of a last journey‬
    ‪Leaving all behind‬
    ‪For a darker reality‬
    ‪Without a special message‬

  2. Grace, thank you! I like the meditation. I’ve been using Joe treacy for mine. Here’s what I came up with:

    I am guru
    I ask the right question
To lead you out of yourself
    And into the light
I face my fear of drowning
As the waves wash over me
    I let go

  3. Pushing off the ledge of letting go
of a lifetime of rage and shame
    mixed with disappointment and blame

Free falling past shadows of doubt
    past yesterday’s drama and disgrace
    headed toward a peaceful place

Landing in life with no expectations
a personal blueprint guiding the way
feeling deep gratitude just for today

    Letting go makes one
    able to be present for
    moments that matter

  4. sand in my hand
    like water drips
    returns to the sea
    but the waves
    always comes back
    for the sand and water
    that never runs out

Words, love them! Have some? Leave them.
