day 14 – love

Welcome to day fourteen of 28 days of Self-Love.

Happy Valentine’s Day! And congratulations on making it to the end of week two! I love you and your journey here.

Let’s continue Self-Love through creativity, breath, and gratitude.

  • Day 14 Exercise: Mirror Work

Wake up and look at yourself in the mirror. Really look. Discover all of your features as if for the first time. One by one. Honestly look, taking in all the details and intricate features.

Next, grab that notebook and jot down the unique colors and patterns inside your eyes. The slant of your nose. The complexity of your unique complexion. Every line and wrinkle. After you jot a few things down go back to your reflection and stay here for at least 5 mins. Who is that person staring back at you? Do you really know yourself? Your likes, dislikes, etc? Try to really feel the essence of the person in the reflection.

Now smile at yourself. You can use your affirmations or I AM statements here or just have some positive self-talk, but speak out loud to yourself as you create a natural soft smile. Accept your positive statements and affirmations and embrace the I AM that resides within, from your heart center, with love.

  • Day 14 Create:

Today is just for you. Love yourself in some small way. If you would like to create a poem feel free to use any style you like. Or just keep your journaling notes as evidence of your progress for today. No rules. Just you.

Here is my creative work as a result of today’s exercise:

Journaling notes.

Be Present. Quiet the mind. Let go of worry. Forgive. Laugh. Engage in Nature. Hug. Take a walk. Read. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to others. Write. Create art. Help a stranger. Breathe. Learn yoga. Share a meal. Share your light. Listen. Cry. Embrace gratitude. Spread joy. Love.

Love and Ink,

I invite you to share your poems in the comment section below or link to a blog or personal website. Read and comment on others. Introduce yourselves. Get involved. I’m excited to see what all you lovely souls have created.

Again, Happy Valentine’s Day! See you back here tomorrow with another day of Self-Love.

  1. You look at me
    I ask you your name
    You point at stars
I love you all the while
    What are stars to do
    With love
    You say you don’t know
But I know you know a lot
    About love
    O my white dove
    You are my star
    Shall I be your Valentine
    The reddest rose to you
    Of all times

  2. Health slowly fading… their love still shines
Years making memories… wrinkles and lines

Three daughters raised… trials and tribulation
Grandchildren and great… a Jesus foundation

Together they face life… time flies by so fast
Mutual respect and trust.. build a home to last

Pillars of the community… both admired by all
Sunday dinners testify… all ages come to call

Each is the better half… neither can hide
A love that lasts a lifetime… can never be denied

  3. Since there are no rules for this day, I’d like to share something I’ve written a while back. I think we all want to have that kind of love that lasts and sees beyond our imperfections. Only when we start accepting and loving ourselves completely do we learn to see and feel with the eyes of love. ❤️

    First and Last

    When my hair is silver
    like the moonlight.
    My skin thin white
    like Japanese paper.
    Crowʼs feet in the corner
    of my eyes.
    Crooked fingers, toothless grin.
    Body bent from the
    years of toil.
    Hard of hearing and
    blurring eyesight.

    Will you still love me
    like a warm sunny day?
Touch me like the first time?
    Find meaning when you look
    into my eyes?
Hold my hand so I donʼt get lost?
    Laugh, like thereʼs no tomorrow?
    Tell me stories?
Look at me like we just met?

    a love that lasts
    like the first
    a first that loves
    till the end

Words, love them! Have some? Leave them.
