gone – Day 19

trees and the depletion of green

haunt my October veins

and my mind screams, rooting around in ochered pain

past autumns, past love’s lips, past the fragility of time

it’s all gone, to another yesterday and the corduroy hips

of a bowed branch with dappled light, gone
to another season of dying and decay, gone
to the greedy in their seersucker suits, gone

trees and the depletion of green

is all that stays to sway
