A Long Hike Down – Day 3

Deep in the forest’s womb,
I lay.

The clouds asked questions
above the dappled canopy

mites and spiders made
nests in my suicide hair.

It’s a slanted route I took,
a diversion from the pain.

I had no formal answers
to the cumulous inquisition.

The sweep of a hairbrush and
arachnid homes were broken.

I stood, shallow
in my squandered days.
