Skateboarding at 6, Love at 16

Experimental Portrait Photography by Angélica García

I still bear the scars
on my hand
from scabs I’d pick.

The itch I couldn’t resist,
the sting when it’d catch
on fresh flesh,

Simply to reveal
puckered pink new cells
beneath the mistakes.

This is life, cyclical
disgustingly diseased,
the pedantic problems
and the phony fix.

I am the scar, the blood,
the tissue of ugly life
I try to forget, but I pick.
