Feigning The Fall

Fall Leaf

Feigning The Fall

you just want to fall
and f all
and f a l l—

a perpetual autumn,
a drifting leaf
that’s dead.

you’re so cold,
my darling.

did my warm truths
frighten you,
in bed?

my favorite month is spring
because I want new
beginnings to begin.

and now I know,
my darling

why yours, indeed, is fall.
you live inside each death
over and over again.

you just want to fall
and f all
and f a l l—

a great pretender
a fake performer
a mime of life

it’s not love,
my darling

it’s real death
and in the end
you chose the knife.

Words, love them! Have some? Leave them.
